Portrait of Miriel

Miriel Hana Tel'Suzail, now Xilo'rulithii, is a familiar figure in Visimontium from the early days of the Holy City of Andrinor - the middle of the XXII century after the Age of Peace. She still is very young for an elf, skinny and pale in appearance, keeping her silver hair cut short in a boyish manner. Miriel's face is framed in an expresionless mask, her silver eyes are cold and her smile unwelcoming. The numerous silver piercings on her ears, nose, tongue and chin catch the eye, as well as her ability to disappear for the naked eye around the nearest corner. The piercing on her chin has made a small and often disturbed wound bed. A lock of strikingly white hair is seen over her left ear of recently. On the left side of her neck there is a burn mark which seems to be often renewed. Despite the general air of exhaustion and stiffness about her body, Miriel often surprises the onlookers with lightning fast reflexes and physical versatility.

Miriel often walks cloaked and hooded in the holy robes of Vorin or wearing the light red and black uniform of a Visimontium Sentinel, supporting herself onto a heavy dark iron staff which glows ominously red on both ends. Apart from these formal garments, her wardrobe includes mostly unusual cuts of clothing of her own making. Those who chance to see her bare skin at night can see it reflecting the moonlight as if with a glow of its own.

Background

To those who ask of her origin, Miriel willingly explains that she is a Moon Elf born in Faerun of Toril. One thing leading to another, she ends up in Avlis after what she has planned as a short visit to the hometown of a friend (Aria Ashby, Half-Nymph planewalker and at the time battlemage of the Order of Gorethar) - turns into being captured in Elysia with the latest Plague, and witnessing the portals leading out of Avlis collapse in the meantime. Finding herself in a brave new world, the former guild thief changes her life after the influence of an elderly human wizard, Tericky Bendt, Senior Mage of Elysia for the Ashen Order of the Stars in the late 2140s. Miriel begins studying the Arcane Art under his tutelage, joins the AKN and devotes herself to Vorin. Old age leads T. Bendt to his death shortly before their wedding. Since this coincides with the migration of M'Chekians to the newly built city of Visimontium, Miriel moves North as well, in hope to build a life on her own. When recalling her life in Elysia, Miriel often mentions her long lost friend Veilan Waterlily, a Half-Nymph holy warrior of Gorethar. "Without his support, I might not have had the will to keep going," she admits.

First Decade in Visimontium

For a decade, including the period of Drangonari Siege over Visimontium, Miriel has been an active member of the Ashen Order of the Stars and defender of the city. Not always she is into full understanding with her fellow Magi, and her behaviour gradually reaches the point where it often borders mild scandal. For instance, well remembered is her public relationship with Baloth (a Half-Ogre member of the Order of Gorethar) to which she puts an abrupt end to for no apparent to the public reason.

In 2160 Miriel leaves the Trust of Andrinor, giving voice to her disappointment with the constant politics tearing the Trust and the unability to devote her time entirely to Arcane research. Rumor goes that this also is related to a particular accident affecting a personal matter, after which Andrinor entirely bars her from the Vortex of Mortal Magic for a period of time. Miriel still can be seen in the company of Ashen magi, most often around another Visimontium resident and noteable great mage of the Ashen Order of the Stars, her closest friend and no less scandalous figure Ialath Fentellon.

Second Decade in Visimontium

In 2161-2162 Miriel is often seen in Southern Avlis. Her exact reason to linger there is not known at the time. Years later, Miriel openedly speaks of the events of this period to anyone who might enquire. These sum up to her attempt to inflitrate the Web of Angadar, investigating their participation in the Drangonari siege.

On February 28th, 2163 much to the surprise of those who know her, Miriel marries a Drangonari elf twice her age. This is Aman'dul Xilo'rulithii (commonly known as Amand Xilo), Senior Mage of Visimontium for the Ebony Order of the Moon. A curious fact is that the wedding takes place under the blessing of Divinia of Cha'reth, after the priest of Corellon Larethian (creator of the Faerunian elven kin) originally invited to conduct the ceremony does not appear. The Xilo'rulithii couple make their home in the Northern Residential District of Visimontium.

The city is not quiet at the years to follow, torn first from the troll hordes of Kazan, and then the goblin minions of Ip. Miriel ever is in the heat of battle where the city safety demands it, but noticeably evades any sort of conflict otherwise.

In the late 2160s Miriel has made a well reputed name as an architect, Visimontium historian and cartographer. She is quiet, reclusive, mostly seen patrolling the city of Andrinor and its surroundings in the uniform of a Visimontium Sentinel, or gathering herbs for the purposes of alchemy and herbalism. The few times where she is seen leaving formality is in the company of the Fury of Ra-Ghul, whenever they sweep in town.

Family, Friends and Foes

Miriel and Amand Xilo, 2171

Aman'dul Xilo'rulithii - Miriel accepts the Ebony magus as he is with fanatical devotion, at the cost of her own physical and psychical ruin. In Miriel's eyes, noone could ever be more tender and caring to her than Amand.

Aurelinis'liandu Xilo'rulithii and Orostau Nilnoste Xilo'rulithii - Miriel accept Amand's brother Aurelinis and his late wife as close family and respects them as such.

Ialath Fentellon - Ialath and Miriel used to be constantly seen together during their first decade spent in Visimontium, mostly around the tower of the Ashen Order of the Stars. Often they speak in one voice, showing unique alikeness of mind, even after their lifepaths take different directions and do not cross for long periods of time.

Whisper - The champion of Ra-Ghul is the one whom Miriel calls "brother", after blood oath taken in 2169.

Ere'n'dhl El'eash'al - (Deceased) - Perhaps the most humble Healer of Cha'reth for his time, the Ghost Elf known as Ere'n'dhl was one of the people remaining mostly close to Miriel in good and bad times.

Aerill Ailpera and Fealith Anifail - To Miriel, the two are not merely her commanders within the Visimontium Sentinels. She accepts their advice and guidance as if from family elders, and often can be found around them in casual conversation.

Elyl and Fade Redweth - Miriel has known this Ghost Elven couple from long before their marriage. She values both of them for their strength of character and honesty. Elyl, while being a Red magus, often finds Miriel his rival in unpredictable behaviour. The friendship Miriel has with the Ebony magus Fade on the other hand is rather tentative.

Damar Ogdem - The relation in-between Miriel and the High Mage Council Moderator may be classified as hate at first sight or at least mutual intolerance, fed by numerous accidents through the years.

"This young elf has the annoying habit to demand a lot more of your time than you really want.
Perhaps that is a sign of significance - time will show."
